Timothy Bradley Video Ranking: four / 5
If there is one match that former eight division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao craves for, it is for a fifth showdown against the legendary Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez. From the point of view of the Filipino, this match makes a lot of sense in terms of finances as well as a lasting legacy. Not only will it allow The Pacman to avenge the knockout defeat he suffered at the hands of the Mexican last December, but it will also enable him to pocket quite a large cash bonus from the match.
And to be very honest, all four of his matches against Marquez have been huge hits on pay per view sales. His match against Timothy Bradley, on the other hand, in June last year, was a huge disappointment in terms of pay per view sales. And although The Filipino Bomber has set his sights on a fifth duel against the Mexican, the American Bradley has other things on his mind. The way people are talking about a potential rematch between Marquez and Pacquiao, it doesn’t seem that Bradley also defeated him that same year and that too, for the title.
And now, Timothy Bradley is ready to set things right in his own way. Bradley, who is coming off a very impressive win in his last match, is looking to build further momentum and send Pacquiao into retirement. He stated that he would prefer Pacquiao v/s Bradley rather than Marquez v/s Pacquiao.
The notable thing here is that rarely does a fighter ask for a fight against someone who is coming off a loss, especially when he is coming off a very impressive win. But Timothy Bradley is looking to take on a gut who has not only lost his last bout, but the one before that too.
Timothy Bradley is a professional boxer from the United States of America, fighting out of the Cathedral City in California. Nicknamed the Desert Storm, Bradley is still to taste defeat in his professional career and has been on a run of 30 wins out of 31 bouts with one finishing as a No Contest. Bradley is the reigning World Boxing Organization or WBO Welterweight champion and has been a former two-time winner of the World Boxing Council or the WBC’s Junior Welterweight Championship.
Born in the Cathedral City of California, Bradley spent his childhood and adolescent years in Palm Springs. Before he became a professional boxer, Bradley was working as a waiter and a dishwasher to make ends meet. Making his debut in 2004, Bradley made an instant impact against Francisco Martinez as he knocked him out in just the second round. As he was going up the rank in the division, Timothy Bradley gained the WBC Youth World Welterweight Championship as well as the WBC Junior Welterweight Championship.
In what was perhaps his biggest win in the early stages of his career, Bradley defeated the reigning International Boxing Federation or IBF Lightweight Championship holder Miguel Vazquez via a unanimous decision at the end of ten grueling rounds. But as he grew into more of a championship fighter, he began to climb up the pecking order for a shot at the Welterweight Championship and landed a shot at the WBO crown against a legend in the form of Manny Pacquiao.
And it was a match that changed the career of Timothy Bradley as he defeated the Filipino via a decision and although people thought he didn’t deserve the win with Pacquiao doing enough, he still took it and has been the champion in the division since then, defending it too.
